This was one hell of a project. Nissan had just started sponsoring the Heisman Trophy and wanted to get out there in a big way. The creatives on this came to me with the idea of having college mascots chasing the trophy, representing the Heisman candidates vying for the prize. But as we worked through it, we decided real-life versions would be better than big-headed, costumed characters. Next thing I know, I'm talking to Arizona State, trying to convince them that a real flaming devil would make their school proud. And I had to do that with dozens of schools.

As you see, it all came together brilliantly. Fans loved the work. Everyone was abuzz trying to figure out what represented which school. How many can you pick out? Hint: the giant rock is a type of nut.

The print was fun because readers kept trying to identify each mascot and school. If a print ad can hold your attention for longer than a couple of seconds, that's a W in my book.
